From understanding girlfriend to understanding employee
Don't let it be your portion.
In this life, there are different types of girlfriends.
The razz girlfriend, the fortunate girlfriend, the secret girlfriend, and the understanding girlfriend.
It's usually the same in the corporate world.
And what fate usually befalls understanding girlfriends?
We all know it never ends well.
Now that we’ve established this, let's get into the details of who an understanding employee is?
My sister recently told me a story about a staff in her organization who resigned for a better opportunity elsewhere.
The CEO was very angry about the resignation of the staff in question because she was one of the company's top performers. Apparently, she was performing three roles simultaneously, and doing them extremely well.
Aunty eventually got tired of collecting groundnut salary, not even peanut.
This story is the perfect illustration of how understanding employees take, simply put. “Shit”.
So what are the signs you are an overtly understanding employee?
• You are understanding when they owe you salary for long periods of time.
• Your oga’s behaviour is smelling of pap. They fire people at short notice and without severance pay.
• You keep taking all the gbas gbos of corporate bullying and unprofessional manners of addressing staff
• You are being overworked like a donkey.
And of course, many more.
Please, if this is you, it’s time to be misunderstanding.
Blind loyalty to bad leaders irrationally serves their ego and has disastrous implications on virtually everything.
Don’t stay in a role to your own detriment because you are somehow emotionally tied to the brand, institution, or industry.
Till my next newsletter, stay employed!

I initially thought this would be a topic on girlfriends who go on to work for their partners for nada but I like how it panned out.
Probably, consider this in future?
I like the tips and advice provided on knowing when to leave. Thank you, Toni
