Is it just me?
Or does starting a new job make you feel foolish?
I stumbled on this funny video and every 9-5 person needs to actually take notes from this video here
Happy International Women’s Day, my woman.
Today is for you. The woman who wakes up every day and keeps pushing, even when she’s tired. The woman who shows up, figures things out, and makes things happen, whether she’s given the support she deserves or not. The woman who sometimes doubts herself but still gets the job done.
I see you. I celebrate you. And if no one has said it yet today. you’re doing amazing.
Now, let’s talk about something we don’t say out loud enough.
Is it just me, or does starting a new job make you feel like an outsider? One minute, you’re thriving, surrounded by familiar faces and a routine you’ve mastered. The next, you’re in a new environment where everyone already has their cliques, their unspoken rules, and their own way of doing things. And let’s be honest, people in the corporate world aren’t always the warmest.
You’re expected to just blend in and figure it out. If you left your last job on a good note, there’s a high chance you’ll spend your first few weeks in this new one fighting the urge to run back. Because at least there, you were somebody.
It’s like changing schools as a kid. Walking into a classroom where everyone already has their friends, and you’re just there. It’s tough. And no matter how experienced or qualified you are, that feeling of being the “new kid” never really goes away.
How to Survive the Transition
Remember why you left? There was a reason you moved forward. Don’t let temporary discomfort make you second-guess yourself.
Keep your head down, but not forever. Observe, learn, but don’t shrink yourself. You belong here.
Find your people. Not everyone will be friendly, but someone will be.
Give yourself time. Eventually, you will adjust to the familiar
